Casco Bay Branch Small Pool Closure
You may be aware that we are working to resolve some air quality issues within our Casco Bay Branch pool area. We have been working on this and were able to open both large and small pools Thursday morning with healthy air quality levels. However, over the course of the morning, the levels have increased in the small pool to the point where we felt we needed to close it for an extended period of time. The large pool will remain open at this point. We will continue to monitor the air quality regularly, but feel that the problems are currently isolated to the small pool.
We have not come to this decision lightly, but we feel that it is the right decision to make in ensuring a healthy environment for all of our swimmers. We are working diligently to assess our options in correcting the situation as quickly as possible and will continue to keep you posted on our progress.
For the time being, youth swim lessons (all except the shrimp/kipper level) will take place at their regularly scheduled times in the large pool.
Again, I apologize for the inconveniences this may cause, but hope you understand our need to ensure member safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you do have questions about this process, please feel free to speak with either Brian Townsend (btownsend@cumberlandcountyymca.org), Aquatics Director, or Scott Krouse (skrouse@cumberlandcountyymca.org). They can also both be reached at 865-9600.
