The Cumberland County YMCA is comprised of three branches: the Casco Bay Regional YMCA, the Portland YMCA, the Pineland YMCA.
Each of these branches provides a wide array of programs, services, and amenities to meet the varied needs of our members. For more information, please browse our website to learn more about a particular branch or program. Or, please feel free to stop by and ask for a tour. As a prospective member, we’ll also invite you to try the Y by offering you a free day pass. We're sure you'll discover the Y is where you belong! We look forward to seeing you soon.
Don't forget, Cumberland County YMCA members are able to participate in programs at each of our three branches, and financial assistance is always available for those in need of assistance.

Why Join the Cumberland County YMCA?
Each of our three branches offers a great variety of programs for every member of your family – from your kids to your grandparents. Our youngest members can start here as infants and our oldest members are still participating in group exercise or water aerobics classes well into their 90s. And, there is something for everyone in between.
As a member of one of our branches, you are a member of all. Feel free to take a class in Portland, swim at Casco Bay and go bowling at Pineland. While at each Y, you will have access to all programs and facilities (most at no additional charge).
We also try to make our memberships as flexible as possible for you. You can pay in full for the year, or pay monthly through our automatic draft option (automatic charge to your checking account or credit card). Through the draft, there is no minimum time commitment. You can join for three months, three years or more. Your membership will just continue until you tell us to stop (and, there is no 30 days notice required). Heading out of town? Going south for the winter? You can place your membership on hold for up to 6 months. You can also easily change your membership type – from youth to adult to family – at any time.
Best of all, the YMCA provides a wonderful sense of community. Our members soon become connected to other members, staff and the organization. Meet other moms in Prime time, socialize at cards and coffee or our monthly Healthy Luncheons, become a “regular” at a latin Zumba or a yoga class, or choose to be a volunteer. Swim in the morning with the Masters group, or do a pot-luck with participants in our Aquatic Arthritis classes.

Inclusive Membership Structure
Our membership fee structure is designed to be all- inclusive. As a member of the YMCA, all drop-in programs are free and included with your membership. This includes group exercise classes, access to our wellness center, lap swimming, open swims and water exercise classes.
We have also made the commitment to provide two additional programs at no charge to our family memberships: swim lessons and our Prime Time program. We believe that it is a critical part of our mission to make it as easy as possible for families to stay healthy together. With this, we have chosen to make use of Prime Time (our ‘While You’re Here Child Care’) free for family memberships. For swim lessons, we see this as a tremendous benefit of a family membership. This program sees the highest levels of enrollment across all of our branches, and therefore benefits the greatest number of families. We also see this as a community service. Living on the coast of Maine, we feel that basic swimming skills are important for the health and safety of our children.
Additional fees will be charged for one-on-one programming and specialized programs. Fees also apply to our sports and recreation programs. Family memberships do receive priority pricing in this fee structure.
Open Doors Program:
The Cumberland County YMCA is a not-for-profit membership organization committed to building strong kids, individuals, families and communities through programs and services that promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body for everyone, regardless of ability to pay. No one is ever turned away from the YMCA because of financial hardships or unexpected emergency expenses. That is why we offer our Open Doors program and review applications on an individual basis.
If you would like to apply for this program, please read this letter, complete the application and return by mail.
Parking
All locations have on-site parking, though it is limited at the Greater Portland branch. At the Greater Portland Y, parking is also available at the Gateway Garage on the corner of Cumberland Ave. and High St. The Y will validate members for one hour in the garage.
