Philosophy Statement of the Heritage Club

The Cumberland County YMCA believes that a strong Heritage Club is a key to the long-term viability of programs and services offered to children, families, and individuals

Why Do People Join the Heritage Club?

Friends of the Cumberland County YMCA make gifts to the Endowment Fund because:

  • They like knowing their gifts will be preserved.
  • They want the YMCA to be strong and active to serve future generations of young people.
  • They want to help the YMCA remain independent.
  • They want to enable the YMCA to offer new programs to meet emerging needs.
  • They want to share their "success in life" with the local community, rather than the government.
  • The gifts may help to meet one of a variety of family or personal estate planning objectives.
  • The gifts may meet particular family or personal investment objectives.
  • Potential income tax, capital gains tax, and state tax savings may be created.

Gifts to the Endowment Fund may be designated for a Branch, a special purpose, or for general purposes.

When making a direct or deferred gift, the legal name of the association is the Cumberland County YMCA Endowment Fund.

An Invitation...

Because of your interest and support of the Cumberland County YMCA, you are invited to join our YMCA Heritage Club. This is a special group of men and women who believe in the mission and traditions of the YMCA and who want to ensure that this heritage is continued for future generations.

The YMCA Heritage Club is a program to build in long range financial stability for the Cumberland County YMCA. Through lifetime gifts or gifts through your estate plan, you can participate in establishing this financial stability. Your gift may provide you with various tax advantages while enabling you to do much more than you ever dreamed possible for the community through the YMCA.

If you now qualify for membership in the Heritage Club, please let us know. If not, we hope you will join us during the coming year.

How Can I Become A Member Of The Heritage Club?

  1. Make an outright gift of money, land, stock, bonds, insurance, or by other financial instrument.
  2. Make a gift through your Will, directing a percentage, a fixed amount, or a contingent gift to the Cumberland County YMCA Endowment Fund
  3. Make a cash gift to the Cumberland County YMCA Endowment Fund to be used to purchase a life insurance policy on your life, naming the Cumberland County YMCA Endowment Fund as primary beneficiary
  4. Name the Cumberland County YMCA Endowment Fund as an income or principal beneficiary of a trust as part of your estate plan.
