The YMCA builds strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

We work to ensure that kids participating in our programs are interacting with peers and positive role models and are having fun while building their self-esteem and social skills through a variety of organized enrichment activities and free play.

Our basic goals are:

• To provide a safe, caring, nurturing environment for children;
• To provide an environment where children are active learners, make choices, have responsibility for their actions and understand limits.
• To build a trusting relationship between parents, children, and staff where there is mutual respect and frequent communication.
• To provide an environment that fosters trust and honesty.

Family Prime Time

Date:  Ongoing
Days:  Monday through Saturday
Times:  Mon through Fri 8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; Sat 8:00 am - Noon
Ages:  16 weeks - 5 years

Family or Single Adult w/Family Membership Required

Our caring YMCA Prime Time staff will watch your child(ren) while you are at the facility. Our Prime Time room offers areas for free play, reading, and coloring. Parents are welcome to stay and play with their children, or take advantage of the Y's synchronized programming and participate in a class or wellness activity while their child is in Prime Time. There is a 1 ½-hour time limit per day (one hour for infants up to 15 months). Please call ahead to ensure space is available – 874-1111 x 111.

Kids Night Out

Date:  October 22
Days:  Friday
Times:  5:00 - 8:30 pm
Ages:  3 - 12 years
Fees:  $22 for one child, $32 for two or more children from the same family.
Non-Members Welcome!
Pre-Registration Required

Back after a summer hiatus, Kids' Night Out returns!  Drop off the kids with us for a night of fun and friends and enjoy a couple of hours to yourselves.  Dinner and entertainment will be provided by our capable Prime Time staff.  Be sure to bring your child's PJ's so they are ready for bed upon pick-up!  A minimum number of participants is required to hold this program, so please pre-register!

Saturday Kid Care

Date:  December 11
Days:  Saturday
Times:  12:30 - 4:00 pm
Ages:  3 - 12 years
Fees:  $22 for one child, $32 for two or more children from the same family.

Have appointments, errands, a little holiday shopping, or other tasks to do without the kids?  Just want to come in to the Y for a Saturday workout?  Let our capable Prime Time staff care for your child on this winter afternoon.  Kids will have snacks, meet new friends, and engage in fun activities and games!  A minimum number of participants is required to hold this program, so please pre-register!

School Vacation Camp

Dates:  October 11 (Columbus Day); November 11 (Veteran's Day); November 24 & 26 (Thanksgiving Break); December 23
Times:  7:30 am - 5:30 pm
Ages:  Grades K-5
Fees:  $49 per Day

Need a great place for your kids on those one-day holidays that fall throughout the school year?  Spend the day at the Greater Portland Y! Kids will have fun meeting new friends, keeping active, and playing games.  Activities include swimming, arts and crafts, gym games, and outside play.  Parents need to send lunch, snacks, drinks, a bathing suit and towel, and weather appropriate clothing. A minimum number of participants is required to hold this program, so please pre-register!

Winter Vacation Day Camp

Dates:  December 27 - 31
Days:  Monday - Friday
Times:  7:30 am - 5:30 pm
Ages:  Grades K-5
Fees:  $49 per Day; $185 for full week

2010-2011 School Age Enrichment Programs

In the Y-Care program, kids build self-esteem, values, and positive relationships with their peers and the YMCA staff. You'll know your children are growing and exploring their potential while having fun!

Join the Cumberland County YMCA School Age Enrichment Program and you'll experience a safe, fun, and engaging atmosphere every day.

Programs are available for students in the following districts:  MSAD 51  (After School Care; K-5); South Portland (Before and After school care, K-5)

Registration for families currently enrolled in Y-Care programs will open on Wednesday, May 26.

Open registration for all families will open on Wednesday, June 2.
