Before & After School Programs

Kinder Klub:

Kinder Klub is a half day program for Kindergarten students and is available in the morning and afternoon opposite your child's kindergarten schedule. Site locations include Yarmouth and Falmouth. The YMCA Kinder Klub program offers a warm and nurturing setting for kindergarten students. Our programs have a curriculum focusing on arts and crafts, team building activities, songs and games & free choice days.

Before School Programs:

For children in grades K - 5. These programs are offered in participating South Portland, Yarmouth and Falmouth schools. They provide a quiet, low-key start to your youth's day. He or she will be allowed time to select activities of their own or participate in art, drawing, homework assistance, or general play. Offered during the school year Mon. - Fri., 7:00 a.m.-start of school.

After School Programs:

In addition to South Portland, Yarmouth and Falmouth schools, we also provide after school programs in Cumberland & Portland (YMCA*) for children grades K - 5. Our programs have a cirriculum focusing on character development, arts & humanities, sports & games, homework assistance, outdoor play, free choice days and community service projects. Offered during the school year, Mon - Fri, 3:00 - 5:30 PM.

Portland On-Site After School Programs (Y-Club):

The Portland on-site program provides unique opportunities that are different from our other after school programs. We provide transportation from Reiche, Hall, East End, Longfellow, Nathan Clifford, and Presumpscot schools to our YMCA location. While at the Y, youth will experience the same focus as our school programs but will also take part in weekly (instead of monthly) swim, gym & art time, as well as a weekly field trip Offered after school during the school year until 5:30 p.m.

Youth-at-Promise

The Youth-At-Promise program, affectionately called YAP, is a specialized Youth Program designed for Portland Public School students. YAP focuses on the character development of its participants. All activities embody the core character values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility. These activities deal with: Communication, Cooperation, Teamwork, and Conflict Resolution. The YAP program meets five days a week Monday through Friday. Students are picked up at their schools or are transported by school bus to the YMCA. The program begins at 3pm and lasts until approximately 5:30pm. Participants will be dropped off at home between 5:00 and 6pm or they can be picked up at the YMCA at 5:30pm. Each month YAP participants will also have several opportunities to participate in: field Trips, swimming, games, gym time, community giving (service projects), art workshops and more...

Vacation Camps

For your children - when they're off from school and you're not off from work! This program is offered at Portland on-site locations (serving all schools). Activities include field trips, arts & crafts, gym time, swimming and more! 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
