About the Cumberland County YMCA

The YMCA has been a strong and positive force in Cumberland County for more than 150 years. Today there are 3 branches, Greater Portland, Casco Bay, and Pineland, as well as 12 before and after school sites throughout Cumberland County.

For every dollar raised, we will give out $2 in financial assistance. You can’t ask for a better return than that!

The YMCA is for everyone. This year, we expect over $560,000 in financial assistance will be provided to 3,950 youth, individuals, and families to ensure participation in all YMCA programs. That means that 1 out of every 3 members receive some form of financial assistance!

The Cumberland County YMCA relies on a strong volunteer base to provide value based programming and other services for the YMCA. Approximately 600 people volunteer for the Cumberland County YMCA each year for board roles, program services, and fundraising. We are thankful for the over 11,700 hours generously given from these volunteers.

The Cumberland County YMCA offers our 11,000 members an opportunity to enjoy and participate in a community that is based on the development of healthy relationships. Last year, 20,035 people, including 6,228 children, were involved in active and healthy living activities at the YMCA.

The Cumberland County YMCA is providing solutions to social problems in our communities, often in collaboration with other social service providers. We engage with a broad array of community stakeholders to achieve community well-being. Last year alone we partnered with 94 non profits to better serve our community.
